Pennsylvania High School Football's "Elite Eight"
It's taken me a couple of weeks to get over the end of Suburban One high school football, but things are wrapping up now.
By sometime later today, we will be down to 8 teams left playing high school football in Pennsylvania, and things will be settled next Friday and Saturday in Hershey. Garnet Valley High School ensured that at least one District One team will be represented next weekend. Ridley has a tough one today against Parkland at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown. I didn't see a score on the Pittsburgh Central Catholic - Harrisburg game from last night yet. I figure PCC won, but I don't ahve confirmation yet.
The Poop is an interesting blog about NFL football, women and crime (as best I can tell). I found it when I came across this article about Edward Anderton and did a subsequent image search for Jocelyn Kirsch. Will Bunch's Attytood blog entry about Anderton and Kirsch has one of the best commentaries I've seen about the whole mess.
Some more high school football stories:
California of Pennsylvania is playing in the NCAA Div II Semi's today
Irvine 16 year old's death found to be from heat stroke Kind of scary. Supposedly he collapsed 10 minutes after a water break.
ESPN honors Gateway HS trick play - it got them to overtime, but PCC still went on to the next round.
Putting weight on for football glory - Apparently some kids (and coaches) think that if you get big enough somehow you turn into a football player. If you can eat healthy, run 2-3 miles a day and still weigh 300 pounds, maybe then you're a football player.
